How does AI PDF Chat work?

It extracts page-aware text, selects relevant excerpts for each question, and asks the protected AI service to answer only from those excerpts.

Does the answer include page citations?

Yes. Validated citations link answers to the real page ranges of selected excerpts.

Can I chat with a scanned PDF?

Not yet. This MVP requires a PDF with readable embedded text.

Is my PDF stored?

No. The document and conversation are kept only in the current browser tab and disappear after reload.

What is the maximum PDF size?

The current limit is 20 MB, 300 pages, and 500,000 extracted characters.

Can I download the conversation?

Yes. Download the conversation as a UTF-8 Markdown file.

Does AI PDF Chat use information outside my PDF?

It is instructed to answer only from the selected PDF excerpts and to say when evidence is insufficient.
