Frequently asked questions

What is AI Document Summarizer?

It turns readable content from DOCX, TXT, and Markdown files into a concise summary and a list of key points.

Which document formats are supported?

Version 1 supports DOCX, UTF-8 TXT, and MD files. Old DOC, DOCM, ODT, RTF, Pages, HTML, EPUB, and cloud-document links are not supported.

Can I summarize a PDF?

PDF files use the separate AI PDF Summarizer, which supports regular, scanned, and visual PDF pages.

What do Short, Standard, and Detailed change?

They control the summary depth, output budget, and number of key points. Standard is selected by default.

Can it read image-only Word documents?

No. Embedded images are ignored in this version, and OCR is not used. A DOCX with no readable text returns a no-content message.

Are encrypted documents supported?

No. Password-protected, encrypted, corrupted, or macro-enabled documents are not supported.

Will formatting be preserved?

The tool preserves useful reading structure such as paragraphs, headings, lists, and table text where possible, but exact fonts, colors, page layout, and formatting are not retained.

How can I get a better summary?

Use a document with clear headings and complete text, remove irrelevant repeated content, and choose Detailed when important context or nuance must be retained.
